Previously seen at the Errington Hall in DECK, HELLO BABY and The Amazing and Impermeable Cromoli Brothers, playwright and comedian Lucas Myers is now bringing his latest creation, EAST. EAST is an evening of three interconnected plays that hilariously explore our all too human need to love and be loved and the lengths, literally, we will go for it.

Myers’ mines his own personal experience of riding the bus across the country for the narrative of the first play, We Are Going on a Journey (or “How I Learned to Love the Greyhound), which takes the audience on an epic 68- hour bus ride from Vancouver to Toronto in just 20 minutes. It features an eclectic mix of fellow passengers (all played by Myers) from the painfully shy politico who forces himself to sing a protest song to the lovelorn redneck singing a touching ballad to his girlfriend at hour 54.

The second play, The Landlord’s Daughter, explores the challenges in starting over after a mid-life break up, relocating to a new city and navigating a disastrous rental complicated by emotional entanglements with the titular character.

The final play, The Forgetful Prince, is a puppet show that examines what happens if you have everything provided for you, but suddenly the world wants everything from you. Wildly imaginative and with original songs on guitar and ukulele, EAST is a one of a kind theatrical experience not to be missed!

Lucas Myers is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, has performed in major theatres across the country, and toured internationally to Europe, Singapore, Brunei and Mexico. In 2006, he returned to Nelson, BC to raise a family and form Pilotcopilot Theatre with a mandate to create work which is accessible, thought provoking, and highly theatrical. He also performs as the Amazing and Impermeable Cromoli Brothers, which won the Best Comedy Award at the New Zealand International Theater Festival. In 2013 he was appointed as Nelson’s Cultural Ambassador in recognition for his achievements in Theatre Arts.
