“Deep dance vibes suitable for any crowd” Vancouver International Jazz Festival

In celebration of our 50th Hi Neighbour Day Dance, the Errington Hall presents award winning percussionist and composer Robin Layne & The Rhythm Makers. The quintet is built around Robin’s energetic and virtuosic style on the concert marimba. Known for his collaborations with a wide spectrum of folk and world artists across Canada, including Locarno, Mazacote, the BC World Music Collective and Juno Award winners Quique Escamilla, Celso Machado, and the Paperboys, Robin’s passion for rhythm has led him around the world. He has toured in China, Europe, Mexico, the US and Canada and pursued his studies in LA, Cuba, Mexico and West Africa.

Robin released his debut album Memories in 2018 with TrebleFive Records and spent the summer touring across Washington and BC, appearing at the FolkLife Festival in Seattle, Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Carnaval del Sol, Stony Ground Concert Series on Pender Island, and ArtsWells Festival among others.
