Writing and singing deadly songs, playing handmade banjos and old acoustic guitars, Pharis and Jason Romero’s story of artistic success has been celebrated with multiple Juno awards. They are passionate teachers and folk musicians, and their heartbreakingly harmonic live show takes listeners deep into the unbelievably beautiful world of old country, old time and bluegrass.

Including four critically-acclaimed records and tours across North America and the UK, they’ve won two back-to-back Juno awards, been featured on National Public Radio in the US, and performed on A Prairie Home Companion and The Vinyl Cafe.

On this tour, Pharis and Jason are performing with mandolin maestro John Reischman of the Jaybirds and The Sweet Old Band featuring Marc Jenkins on pedal steel and Patrick Metzger on upright bass. The band members add creative depth, texture, and pulse while leaving space for Pharis and Jason to stay front and centre.

Raising a family while developing an ever-growing demand for custom J. Romero Banjos in their hometown of Horsefly, BC, Pharis and Jason keep making time to carve out new songs and to put their singularly recognizable stamp on old songs. Their song writing is striking and original, an ever-evolving and never-ending quest for good stories and good sounds. Called “sublime” (NPR) and “brilliant” (BBC), their releases continue to attract audiences and radio play globally.

"There’s something ancient and aching about the Romeros, a sound that feels like a reverberation from the past, even as the songs are a perfect antidote to this sped-up, modern world. “Sweet Old Religion” is particularly good medicine" ~ No Depression

"Their collaboration is fueled by an intangible magic, the rare quality that makes a critic want to leave it at, "Just turn this album ("Sweet Old Religion") on; you’ll love it." ~ Folk Alley
